Cut Back Fall Mums in July

photo-1c.jpg

Often we see fall mums trying to bloom in the summer time. However, the summer heat will prevent the blossoms from opening completely. Allowing them to bloom in the summer only depletes them of energy. July is a good time to cut back the plants by one third or one half of their total size. Don’t worry, by September they will be back into full bloom better than ever.
