More Than A Sunday School Verse

“Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.”  Luke 12:27

I read an article the other day on how plants store starch during the daylight hours and use it to grow at night. We learned in our school age years about the process of photosynthesis. Plants process light and store it as sugar. The article expounded on the fact that in addition to meeting the immediate requirements for food the plant also stored energy in the form of starch. Scientists discovered that plants have the ability to distribute the starch (which returns to sugar) evenly throughout the evening hours up to the exact moment of dawn. This means that the plant never runs out of food within a 24 hour period. It also means that there is never any food left over. The scientists also found that even when the amount of daylight was abruptly or unexpectedly changed a plant had the built in ability to immediately adjust starch distribution to run out precisely at dawn.

After reading that article the verse in Luke 12 has a broader meaning for me. What an awesome God. Is it any wonder that Jesus asks us, “Why do you worry?” He specifically told us that we are much more important to Him. It is for you & I that He suffered and died. And it is for you & I that He is risen. Victory is ours. Whatever we face today or tomorrow our Savior has already made the way out. What a privilege it is to know Him!
