Knowing the Artist by His Work

I watched a program on TV the other day about the painting, “Portrait of a Young Fiancée”, also called “La Bella Principessa” (English: “The Beautiful Princess”.) Apparently new evidence suggests that this piece of art is actually the work of the famous painter, Leonardo da Vinci. In 2009 a forensic art examiner discovered a finger print that was, “highly comparable” to a finger print found on another known work of da Vinci. Furthermore, the work has the style and technique attributed only to da Vinci during the period of 1490’s. Many art experts concurred that this work is most likely da Vinci’s work, but the debate continues.

“All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” (John 1:3)
Jehovah’s Gardener began when this verse came into my heart. There are so many people that have spent their lives trying to discover if God exists. My answer to them is, “look around you.” Consider the mountains, the forests, all the amazing land masses. Pick any tree, any bush, any flower and look at it. I mean REALLY look at it. How could we ever honestly believe that all we see just happened?

Many times in the garden center I have seen customers with one flat filled with two types of flowers. I always asked before they went through the cashier’s line if they were aware of what they had. The Upright Vinca, (Catharanthus roseus.) Is a plant that looks uncannily like Impatiens, (Impatiens wallerana.) However, Vinca’s thrive in full sun and intense heat. Impatiens, on the other hand, are shade loving and can only tolerate at the most a few hours of morning sun. Both flowers are annuals, their flowers and growth habits are almost identical. Their leaves and stems vary in color and texture. They are both beautiful flowers in the landscape with a different purpose. They look alike because they were created by the same divine artist; the Maker of all things. They were given to us to tend, to water and to simply enjoy. What a loving heavenly Father we have. He did all this just for us to enjoy so that everywhere we look we’re reminded that He is with us. He loves us the way we are because He made each of us with a purpose in mind. A perfect work and place made just for us to live, and grow and thrive.

“God gives such beauty to everything that grows in the fields, even though it is here today and thrown into a fire tomorrow. God will surely do even more for you…” (Matthew 6:30)
